Composts enrich any soil type.
They each contain nutrients that can be essential to excellent plant growth and survival. If creating your own compost pile, any of our compost choices can be added to aid in the composting process.
Peat Moss
-Help with aeration of root systems
-Increases water retention which reduces frequency of watering
-In sandy soils, peat moss helps hold moisture
-Gives loamy texture for easier planting
Creekside Compost with Manure
-Excellent source of nutrients such as sulfur, calcium and magnesium
-Manure helps hold nutrients in the soil
-Contains humus which naturally holds nutrients
-Retains moistures which reduced frequency of watering
-Helps to loosen and aerate compacted soil
Elm Creek Compost
-In clay soils, Elm Creek Compost helps to increase water flow
-In sandy soils, the pine bark fines help to hold extra moisture
Seaweed Compost (1-1-1)
-Composed of seaweed, peat moss, and limestone
-Seaweed is rich in potassium, which is essential for stem growth
-Seaweed compost helps to reduce the frequency of watering
-Seaweed is overall very good for green plants in helping with the production of chlorophyll
Shrimp Compost (1-1-1)
Highly recommended by Wendy, Fair’s perennial expert!
-Composed of peat moss, shrimp shells and limestone
-Shrimp compost adds calcium to the soil
-Especially good when planting tomatoes because it helps to prevent blossom end rot
